Disability Support Worker (Reference: DSW01)

Supporting children and young people to thrive

📍 Based at:

The Foundation, Eastbrook Road, Gloucester.

🕒 Hours:

This is a casual worker agreement, which means:​

  • No minimum or guaranteed hours

  • Flexibility to choose shifts that work around your life

  • Opportunities to work across weekdays, evenings, and weekends

💰 Salary:

£11.50 – £14.00 per hour

Dependent on experience and contract type.

🧩 Key Responsibilities

As a Disability Support Worker, you’ll support children and young people with a range of additional needs, helping them access play, learning, life skills, and social opportunities, in a way that suits them.

This includes:

  • Providing 1:1, 2:1, or small group support

  • Planning and delivering engaging activities like crafts, sensory play, baking, sports, and life skills

  • Encouraging communication, confidence, and social interaction

  • Supporting personal care and routines while promoting dignity and independence

  • Working closely with families and professionals to meet each child’s goals

  • Keeping clear records of sessions, progress, and feedback

  • Attending training to build your skills and confidence

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Positive, patient, and compassionate

  • Adaptable and responsive to each young person’s unique needs

  • Comfortable with behaviours that challenge (training provided)

Experience is great, but not essential.
We offer full training, a structured induction, and lots of support.

Other helpful (but not required) skills:

  • Experience with children, young people, or those with disabilities

  • A background in care, education, or youth work

  • Basic IT skills

  • A full UK driving licence

Mentor (Reference: YPM01)

Supporting progress, confidence, and independence

Monday to Friday
8:30am – 4:30pm

Saturdays (Optional) 

9.45am - 4.30pm

  • Options for term time only or all-year-round

  • Full-time or part-time considered

💰 Salary:

£20,000 – £30,000 per year
Dependent on experience, qualifications, and agreed working pattern

🧩 Key Responsibilities

As a Young Person’s Mentor, you’ll support children and young people with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans), helping them build confidence, life skills, and educational outcomes through 1:1 mentoring and structured learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one mentoring support tailored to individual needs

  • Developing personalised plans with each young person, based on their interests, goals, and EHCP outcomes

  • Planning and delivering purposeful sessions that promote emotional wellbeing, life skills, independence, and education

  • Working with our in-house teacher and Higher Level Learning Partners to align learning with curriculum standards

  • Supporting community safety and practical skills, such as travel, budgeting, and cooking

  • Collaborating with parents, carers, and professionals to provide holistic support

  • Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate records and reports

  • Creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for all participants

  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable to individual needs

  • Skilled at building trust, encouraging independence, and nurturing confidence

  • Comfortable working 1:1 and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Positive, proactive, and able to create a calm, consistent atmosphere

Helpful experience and qualifications:

  • Experience supporting children or young people, particularly those with disabilities

  • Background in youth work, mentoring, education, or social care

  • Confident communication and basic IT skills

  • A full UK driving licence (this is essential)

Leading learning with care, creativity, and confidence

📍 Based at:

Monday to Friday

🧩 Key Responsibilities

As a Higher Level Learning Partner (HLLP), you’ll take a lead role in supporting children and young people with additional needs through purposeful, engaging education and mentoring.

This includes:

  • Delivering tailored lessons and learning activities set by our Learning and Development Manager

  • Taking ownership of a classroom space — keeping it safe, well-organised, and inspiring

  • Planning, preparing, and running sessions suited to each child’s goals and EHCP outcomes

  • Supporting and guiding other staff members to deliver high-quality education

  • Building strong relationships with young people, families, and professionals

  • Tracking individual progress and contributing to key reports

  • Decorating, organising, and personalising your classroom to support your key children’s development

This is a creative, hands-on role with real responsibility — perfect for someone who wants to step up and make an impact.

👀 Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification (this is essential)

  • Has at least 2 years’ experience working with children or young people

  • Understands how to support children with a range of additional needs

  • Can confidently lead a classroom and support others to deliver excellent sessions

  • Is positive, organised, and creative in their approach

  • Communicates well with families, staff, and other professionals

  • Can plan, adapt, and problem-solve as part of a wider education and mentoring team

A driving licence is desirable but not essential.
